Radiant CMS runs best in its own environment, so we provision and manage the runtime for you on a VPS sized to your traffic. Managed includes setup, patching, monitoring and Premier support, with backups quoted alongside the server. Free migration either way.

What every plan includes
Everything your Radiant CMS site needs.
Managed Rails VPS
We provision and manage a Ruby on Rails VPS for your Radiant CMS site, configuring the Ruby version, dependencies and services it needs to run.
Passenger or Puma
Radiant is a Rails app, so we run it behind a proper application server such as Passenger or Puma rather than a generic PHP web stack.
PostgreSQL or MySQL
We set up and maintain the relational database your Radiant CMS install uses, and migrate your existing data across when you move to us.
Migrate or Modernise
Because Radiant is legacy, we can host your existing site or help you migrate its content to a modern, actively supported CMS.
Security & DDoS Protection
Network-level DDoS protection, a managed firewall and OS patching help protect a legacy Radiant CMS application that no longer gets vendor updates.
24x7 UK-Based Support
Our UK team is available around the clock by live chat and ticket to help manage your Radiant CMS Rails environment.
Deploying Radiant CMS
Inventory Ruby, Rails, gems and the database. Establish whether the required versions can be maintained securely and supported in the proposed environment before buying a VPS.
Moving your Radiant CMS site
Rehearse the move with the existing data and extensions. If a maintainable environment cannot be agreed, plan an application upgrade or CMS migration instead of promising an unsupported stack.
Agree a final data sync and the DNS change after staging checks pass. Keep the old service available through the transition and check backups on the destination.
Radiant CMS today, and what that means for hosting
Radiant is an open-source content management system built on Ruby on Rails, known for its simplicity: pages, layouts, snippets and a small tag language, with extensions for the rest. It was popular with Rails developers for about a decade. It is no longer actively developed, and the last releases target Ruby and Rails versions that current Linux distributions don't ship.
That changes what hosting a Radiant site means. It's not a matter of picking a plan; it's a compatibility review. We check the Radiant version, the Ruby and Rails versions it was built against, the gems it depends on and the database, then build a managed VPS pinned to those versions with Phusion Passenger and Nginx in front. The operating system and everything around the app stays patched; the Ruby stack stays at the version the site actually runs on.
Keeping a Radiant site running
The site runs under Passenger with MySQL or PostgreSQL, free SSL on the domain, and off-site backups of the database and any uploaded files. Because the Ruby version is old, the server is isolated: a VPS of its own, firewalled, with nothing else on it. Deploys are a Git pull or a Capistrano run, whichever the site already uses.
We'll be straight about the trade-off. A pinned legacy stack is safe to run behind a firewall and a reverse proxy, but it will never get a security update for the framework itself. For most Radiant sites the right long-term answer is a migration, and hosting the legacy site properly is what buys the time to do it well.
Compatibility review first

Pinned Ruby stack
The versions your install runs on, on an isolated managed VPS.
Passenger and Nginx
The standard Rails deployment, with free SSL in front.
Backups and monitoring
Database and uploads off-site; the server watched by our UK team.
Moving off Radiant
Radiant's content model is simple, which makes it one of the easier CMSs to leave. Pages, layouts and snippets export cleanly to a modern platform: WordPress for most brochure sites, Statamic or Craft if you want a developer-led CMS with a similar feel. We host the old and new sites side by side while the rebuild happens and switch DNS when you're ready, and the migration of the hosting itself is free.
Check the official Radiant CMS requirements for your release, then plan the migration with us. See our hosting platform for the infrastructure behind the plans.
